Tanrise Resort Selasih is a destination resort development located in the heart of Ubud, Bali, set on a 25,000 m² contoured site that gently slopes inward toward a lush valley and a flowing river below. The dramatic topography and natural setting provide a powerful foundation for a resort experience that is immersive, tranquil, and deeply connected to the landscape.
The client, who has previously developed several successful city hotels, envisions this project as their first resort in Bali—a strategic shift toward a nature-driven hospitality experience. The resort is planned to feature a total of 100 guest units, comprising a curated mix of hotel rooms, suites, and private villas, offering a diverse range of accommodation types within a cohesive resort environment.
Tanrise Resort Selasih is conceived as a fully integrated wellness and lifestyle destination, equipped with complete resort facilities including a riverside wellness and spa area, a fully equipped gym, multiple food and beverage outlets, and a dedicated kids club for family-oriented guests. These facilities are thoughtfully distributed across the site to maximize views, accessibility, and experiential quality.
Despite its generous program, the development deliberately adopts a low-density approach. Building footprints are carefully arranged to preserve existing rice fields between the structures, allowing the agricultural landscape to remain a living and visible element of the resort experience. This decision strengthens the resort’s identity as a sanctuary rooted in Ubud’s cultural and natural heritage.
Villas and suites are accessed by buggy service, following winding pathways that move gently through native vegetation, rice paddies, and the natural contours of the land. This journey becomes part of the guest experience itself—slow, scenic, and immersive—revealing changing perspectives of the valley, river, and surrounding greenery.
With its dramatic terrain, reduced density, complete resort facilities, and strong connection to the landscape, Tanrise Resort Selasih is envisioned as a refined sanctuary in Ubud—where nature, wellness, and contemporary hospitality come together in a harmonious and memorable resort setting.
The massing of Tanrise Resort Selasih is carefully shaped by the site’s natural topography and divided into two main zones. The primary hotel building—housing guest rooms, the lobby, all-day dining, and back-of-house facilities—is positioned at the highest and most accessible part of the site to ensure operational efficiency and clear arrival.
In contrast, the suites and villas are gently distributed along the descending contours, carefully inserted between existing trees, rice fields, and natural landscape elements. These units are accessed via a buggy circulation system that winds through the site, turning movement through the resort into a calm and scenic journey.
Every guest unit is oriented to provide a distinct and memorable view, whether toward the valley, river, rice fields, or layered greenery. The architecture responds sensitively to the land, creating an intimate relationship between guests and the natural environment of Ubud.
