The design of Sharandy Hotel begins with the atmosphere of Bedugul itself—cool mountain air, mist that rolls gently across the pine forest, and the quiet presence of Lake Beratan shimmering in the distance. This landscape offers a mood unlike any other place in Bali, and the architecture seeks to capture that feeling: calm, restorative, and deeply connected to nature.
Rather than creating a typical cold-climate mountain hotel, the concept explores a more unexpected direction: a warm, onsen-inspired retreat nestled within a cool highland environment. This contrast becomes the heart of the design narrative—an interplay between cold and warmth, mist and steam, forest and water. Guests step into a world where the fresh mountain climate is balanced by the soothing comfort of warm bathing rituals and wellness spaces.
The sloping site guides the architectural composition. Buildings are arranged to cascade gently down the contour, allowing each level to open toward the view of the lake. As guests move downward through the property, the scenery unfolds gradually—framed glimpses through trees, expanding panoramas, and quiet terraces overlooking the water. This descending journey becomes part of the experience, echoing the meditative progression of entering deeper into a spa or onsen.
Materials and forms respond to the surroundings: natural stone, warm timber tones, soft earthy palettes, and architectural lines that feel grounded yet refined. Interiors maintain a sense of warmth and intimacy, offering sheltered spaces where guests can unwind after exploring the cool highland environment.
Sharandy Hotel is envisioned as a mountain sanctuary—a place where wellness, landscape, and architecture merge into one harmonious experience. It is designed not merely as a hotel, but as a retreat where guests can breathe slower, reconnect with themselves, and feel embraced by both the warmth within and the beauty of Bedugul’s natural world.
The design of Sharandy Hotel is inspired by the cool mountain atmosphere of Bedugul—its misty pine forests, terraced gardens, and the serene expanse of Lake Beratan. Instead of adopting a typical cold-climate mountain style, the hotel introduces a warm, onsen-inspired wellness concept, creating a gentle contrast between the crisp highland air and the soothing comfort of heated water and intimate wellness spaces.
The steeply sloping site shapes the architecture, with buildings arranged to step down toward the lake, ensuring that each level captures its own framed view of the landscape. As guests move through the property, the scenery reveals itself gradually, enhancing the feeling of immersion in nature.
Natural materials, warm tones, and understated forms create a calm and grounded atmosphere—spaces that feel sheltered, restorative, and connected to the surrounding forest and mountain air.
Sharandy Hotel becomes a quiet sanctuary, where wellness, warmth, and landscape come together to offer a unique highland retreat.
